Profile
I graduated from The University of Central England in 1998 with a first class BA Honours in Textile design, with a specialism in printed textiles. I worked as a freelance textile designer for a short while before satisfying my wanderlust with a trip across South America. The textiles and landscapes that I experienced along the way will always be a source of inspiration to me. Upon my return I indulged my passion for display by dressing windows for House of Fraser. In 2000 I volunteered to work with disadvantaged young people on a fashion challenge project. Through this experience, I discovered my talent for teaching and inspiring children and young adults through Art and Design and started my teaching career in 2001. I became Head of Art at Ashby Manor House School in 2004 and taught Art from primary through to GCSE level, I loved helping pupils to discover their creative potential. Throughout this time I produced art work by commission when I could. I painted in my grandad’s summerhouse, he would bring tea and biscuits and discuss my latest creation!
