The children and staff of Ashby Hill Top Primary School wanted to brighten a rather dull playground wall with a hand painted mural and thought that it would be great to produce it during their ‘Art Week!’
Together we decided upon two 8′ x 4′ ‘Flower Garden’ murals to fill the wall. They were to be vibrant and full of life, reflecting the school’s motto, ‘The Brightest of beginnings !’
The children provided me with the most beautiful line drawings of flowers that they had produced with teachers! It was an absolute pleasure to use the drawings and develop two designs, both featuring mirrored flowers on either side and some feature flowers in the middle! I came up with two colour schemes and produced a painterly background for the designs to inspire the children!
I spent two absolutely fantastic days working with groups of ten children at a time, we were able to make sure that each and every child in years 3 and 4 experienced working on the designs and that they contributed in their own unique way to the pieces of work!
I am delighted that from now on the children will be able to enjoy a brighter wall to kick a ball against and continue to do so for many years to come!
